First up, Governor Perry…
“If this guy prints more money between now and the election, I dunno what y’all would do to him in Iowa but we would treat him pretty ugly down in Texas. Printing more money to play politics at this particular time in American history is almost treasonous in my opinion.”
That is effectively what Bernanke is doing. He’s doing it because Obama is too weak to push and the Republicans are too stupid to understand real fiscal stimulus. It’s pushing on a string, but at least IT’S something.
Certainly more than Perry is doing. It’s quite possibly the only thing that is keeping the entire country from falling into a Depression. While Perry is pushing to January, 2013 his fiscal mismanagement here in Texas, Bernanke is doing everything he can given complete political failure to save the economy. While people like Perry are pandering to the Tea Party, cutting teachers and public safety employees and threatening to cut Social Security and Medicare, Bernanke is trying to keep a $15 trillion economy from flying apart at the seams.
Now, it’s hard to take seriously someone like Rick Perry criticizing someone like Ben Bernanke. Ben’s at least an order of magnitude smarter than Rick. Part of the reason we’re in this mess is that we let stupid politicians (like Rick Perry) fuck everything up. Governor, you’re just a dumbass. It’s not a big deal. You’re a great campaigner but you’re as thick as two short planks. Carney’s going to have to tighten up your training.
Then there was this…
He also stated that studies have shown it is more beneficial for a child to be raised in a home where a mother and father are present rather than in same-sex households.
Actually, that’s a complete lie and Rep. Walsh would know that if he wasn’t so busy dodging the people trying to collect his unpaid child support. I think dead beat dads are a hell of lot worse than two guys who want to give a kid a good home. At least they’re the kind of men who step up and meet their obligations.
And no list of dumb people saying dumb things would be complete without Bachmann who will soon be the most recent of Rick Perry’s political victims.
Now we move on to supposedly smart people saying stupid things. This week, we’re taking a look at Time Magazine’s (it’s a still a thing, apparently) Fareed Zakaria…
Over the last week, liberal politicians and commentators took to the airwaves and op-ed pages to criticize the debt deal that Congress reached. But their ire was directed not at the Tea Party or even the Republicans but rather at Barack Obama, who they concluded had failed as a President because of his persistent tendency to compromise. This has been a running theme ever since Obama took office.
I think that liberals need to grow up.
Oh, so you don’t think it has ANYTHING at all to do with the President being a complete and total prison bitch? SERIOUSLY, FAREED? Have you just not been paying attention?
The mental gymnastics required to excuse the President’s wholesale failure and abandonment of any agenda that stands a chance at moving the country forward must be extremely difficult. It’s good that Fareed is one of the special people capable of thinking that way. People like me usually need drugs to completely ignore reality.
